Mizoram University, a Central University, was founded on July 2, 2001, following the enactment of the Mizoram University Act, 2000 by the Indian Parliament. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of India. The university is accredited with an 'A' grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and consistently performs well in national evaluations, currently holding the 78th position in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).
To expand access to quality education, the university has introduced a range of UGC-approved online programs. These include offerings across five major categories: Bachelor’s Degree Programs, Executive Courses, Certificate Programs, Standard Degree Courses, and Apprenticeship-Integrated Degrees—each designed to strengthen academic and professional development.
One of the standout offerings is the Apprenticeship-Embedded Online Degree, including programs like B.Com in E-Commerce & E-Accounting and BBA in E-Business. These programs combine structured academic instruction with practical apprenticeship experiences, allowing students to earn while they learn. In many cases, students are able to offset their tuition fees within the first year through the stipends they receive.
The university leverages a modern Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver engaging online instruction, supported by qualified educators, experienced mentors, and subject matter experts. In addition to academic excellence, Mizoram University emphasizes career readiness by offering strong placement support, facilitated through collaborations with top-tier employers such as Google, Amazon, and Infosys.
